Heroes, Berkshire
Over the next few weeks myself and a group of students are exploring the question ‘What is a Place’ .We are making art in different ways to describe ‘a place’. This place is Camp Mohawk, set in the woods near Maidenhead and is where ‘Heroes’ meet ( see www.heroesberkshire.co.uk).
Below are photos of the first work carried out on Friday 13th June 2008.
Firstly we identified the different areas within Camp Mohawk. Then using different colours and papers each student made rubbings of surfaces in each area. The rubbings were then stuck onto a large piece of paper creating a collage.
In this way we have created an artwork which describes the surfaces of many of the objects ( and people) in and around the site. The areas we identified were: the buildings, the people, the garden, the park, the pool and the treehouse.
