21 Views From the Grave

In the early summer of 2014 I spent several weeks living in Paris. I often took a shortcut to the Metro through the nearby Cimitiere du Montparnasse, passing Jean Paul Satre's grave on my route. One day I decided to locate Samuel Beckett's grave. It took me 3 visits and three different maps to find it. I began to think that Beckett's grave didn't really exist; perhaps it was a posthumous joke by the writer. I began to imagine Beckett looking down on the graveyard at everyone fruitlessly searching and never finding his grave. From this experience grew the idea of a drawing project: 21 Views From the Grave
